Today, we finally had our opening ceremony for our Photo Exhibition, something which all of us have been looking forward to!
It does feel good to see our effort.
I am glad that we had this opportunity to showcase what we have got - Sincerity and hardwork.
Besides, I am really delighted when Michelle and Wei Hong came to support and witnessed this event together with me. Thank you <3

I've survived through the third week of school :)
It's amazing how things work differently with a change in mindset.
Its like same same, but different...

A few events happened since my last update.
Firstly, Squash POL-ITE Games has ended ^^
It took place from 24th Oct - 27th Oct 2011 @SP.
The NP guys got 2nd placing, while the NP girls got 3rd. ^^

Secondly, I've been enjoying my weekends job @313 Somerset.
But, I'll be transferred to the new outlet sometime soon. :)

Thirdly, I'm so excited about being short-listed for the 6 months overseas internship! ^^

JB with Jiahui + Time for a Fix

Last Thursday, 13th of October, Jiahui and I went to JB. :)
The photo above was taken from Jiahui's blog after I read her latest post...
*Side-track*, her Xperia Android Phone in pink is really pretty.
And I like the fact how it makes her update her blog more often, somehow :)
Because, it's kind of hard to get her through texts. :/ Haha.
It was a really nice meet-up/catch-up session I would say.
Although it's only a pretty short few hours, but our conversations could go on and on.
I love how nice it was to be able to talk to each other like how we used to. :)
Overall, I had fun with her that day.
Looking forward to more catch-ups with her. ^^

Anyway, school has started for me.
& I already feel exhausted even it's only the third day of the new semester.
I even fell asleep while watching one of my favourite Taiwan drama this evening,
I've never lost focus on a drama before, that should give you a rough idea how tired I was earlier on.

Today, I went for an job interview after school.
I've turned up for 2 job interviews this week.
One at Candy Empire, another, at one of the Retail. :)
I accepted the latter job offered this afternoon.
& I'm quite excited about working. ^^

I'll soon be able to receive my first payslip of the year.
I really need to save up some dollars this few years to help cover my tuition fees/living expenses because I'm hoping to get in one of the overseas university... Y'know how exotic it costs for overseas education in countries like UK. If only I'm a rich kid, or have done well in studies, with good GPA.
Unfortunately I've not done well for past semesters, but I'll work hard from now, hoping for a breakthrough.

Personally, I like to keep myself really busy.
Although a hectic schedules may be tiring, but on a brighter note, I would feel happy to see myself hanging out with family and friends, gaining experiences and learning day by day.
What's more, I'm interested in service line industry, especially the F&B/Retail. I should love what I'll be doing soon...

I need to pamper myself with a few episodes of dramas.

I had a fruitful holiday, learnt a lot, grown up a little.

& I'm about to welcome myself to start of school,

I just can't wait to be the change that I want to see in myself,

I need to work hard and show improvement in grades.

Let's work hard together ^^v

Lack of Quality Sleep

Recently, I had insomnia, even now, blogging at 4.21am...
I got so troubled over not getting quality sleep now, and I went on to Google it.
I'm pretty much surprised with the types, symptoms, causes, prevention and etc of insomnia.
Poor sleep lead to difficulty with memory, poor concentration and focus.

As for myself,
I'm suffering from a short-term insomnia, which lasts from a week to about 3 weeks.
Causes of it could be the distractions due to easily accessible internet for social-networking pages, my guess! Haha.
But I think I probably falls into the situational factors, like stress...

From the website itself, I'm able to pick some preventive measures which I felt that would work on me.
In order to improve sleeping habits... I promise that...

I need to control my sleeping environment. (Avoid light, noise and excessive temperatures)
I will establish a bedtime routine by fixing my sleep and wake time.
I shall avoid large meals, excessive fluid intake and strenuous exercise before bedtime.
I will stop drinking my daily cup of coffee to reduce caffeine and nicotine.
Should I can't fall asleep, I shall not on my laptop or log into social-networking pages,
I'll only turn on iPod Touch for smoothing music at most...

Hopefully by doing this, I'll get my quality sleep and have better concentration ^^v

Thank you for being so forgiving and understanding.

Although you won't have the chance to read my blog, "language barrier".

I believed that I've already convey my message, wishes, and blessings to you :)

This morning, my Mum mentioned about my possibility of getting into a University...

First of all, my accumulative GPA is not ideal to secure me a place in a good University, be it locally or not.

Secondly, I'm really tired and dislike what I'm studying now.

Thirdly, I'm not sure of what I want to be/do in future...
I'm only certain of what I won't want to be/do.

My Reflections:
To begin with, I'm not a smart girl, yet I did all my past revisions at the very last minute.
It's like I've never work hard before in my entire poly life.
I live my days as it is, I don't understand and I don't clear my doubts.
I sat on the couch, and wait for my favourite dramas to be on air.
I've no attempts on my tutorial worksheet.
The only thing I put in 100% effort was during project work.
I only take my project work really seriously, having the fear of not contributing, and pulling down the overall grades of my dear friends.

I decided to try now.
I don't want to be a coward, always avoiding subjects that I dislike.
Mummy was right that a certificate in Diploma is not good enough...
Now, I decided to give it a try.
I want to be like how I used to love studying back in secondary school.

In time to come, I promise that I can and will, find and pursue my life goal.

Lastly, and most importantly.

No matter how old you get, you're still my beautiful Mum, and I'll love you.

May you have a good health, and be happy always <3

Never Previously Done

Pohyee and I went for a trip to Bangkok from 2nd-6th October :)
I was really excited for our trip, that I couldn't had a good night sleep the day before.
The shopping trip there is a craze, although I did not managed to buy much clothing.
What surprised me was, I spent the least in Chatuchak Weekend Market, I only bought 3 items from there.
And, I did not spent the most on clothing. Haha. Guess what I spent it on?
Overall, the food in Bangkok is really affordable and yummy! ^^v

The Swensen's Ice cream I had, only costs about $4 for 2 scoops with toppings.
During the last second day, Pohyee and I had to exchange another $100 each to Thai Baht for our shopping @ Night Market along Siam.
Do bring enough money to Thai, because the exchange rate given in Singapore is much higher compared to theirs. ^^

As for accommodation, we stayed at White Palace Hotel. It's comfortable.
Free breakfast and complimentary Wi-Fi is provided. :)
Hotel booking is easily available @ Agoda ^^

Oh! If you're taking Taxi as a transportation, do request the fare to be charged according to meter.
Pohyee and I bargain for our taxi fares the first few days, and it's pointless.
Despite us bargaining, we are charged more than it originally should have, if by taxi-meter.

P/s: I'm already looking forward to my next holiday, even before school starts.
And I might need a job soon, in order to afford for more getaway trips during next March Holiday ! :)

Because, there are choices.

Memories of Philippines remains in heart, but special moments keep replaying in mind.
I sincerely hope that our plan to return Dumaguete will happen smoothly in March 2012, I really miss them for big time. ^^v

This whole week, I spent more than half of my time, resting at home, trying to recover from repetitive flu and cold, which has caused me to miss out appointments and small gathering with friends and families...

But I'm glad that I was able to meet up awesome people from YEP trip @Somerset 313 last Sunday...

This few days, I reflected and discovered a lot more about myself as I jot down every little thoughts I had.
Sometimes, I wish that I could be someone who will never regret on their choices or/and decisions, but unfortunately, I will never be one that is firm and decisive.

Maybe, I have to put in a bit more effort, passion, and planning to refrain myself from another mistake, or taking the wrong path...
Maybe, there isn't any right or wrong paths.

But a thing for sure, I'm determine to look for a new passion. Something down to earth or meaningful. A new dream that could drive me on, and wake me up from past 2 years, living in vain...

P/s: I'll be taking a break together with Penelope, at Bangkok for 5 days.
I'll come back, refresh and ready to begin another chapter of my life story. <3

For together we stand, divided we fall (Day 1 to Day 4)

TCP-YEP Trip, Philippines, Dumaguete.
On 4th September 2011, approximately 10pm, a group of us, together with 3 trip team leaders checked in.
After which, my Journey of learning with tears, tears of joy and love begun.

Upon arriving Philippines, Manila Airport, where the transit took place, we waited for about 2 hours or so before boarding on another plane.

And, we finally reached our destination.
Arrived at Dumaguete City on 5th September 2011, 8.15am.
From hereon, I'll write about our daily activities, or some highlights and my thoughts.

Day 1: Arrival
Dumaguete is known to be a city of Gentle people, and I'm so glad that I've been there :)
Upon arrival at our destination, some students from Saceda Youth Lead (SYL) High School came to pick us up.
They offered to help us with our luggage :) They may look small, but they are really strong. :)

For the past 2 weeks, Saceda Youth Lead has been hosting us.

The people there are really great hosts. :)

After a long flight, we had our first breakfast in the school's mess hall.

I find the name 'mess hall' really interesting. :)

It's like a description of what the dining hall will look like after students had their meals.

Besides that houseflies are constant visitors, the place are kept clean and neat. :)

Food are served in a similar way to a Buffet Line.
We queue, we take our own food.
On top of that, the food is really good. :)

We have to wash our own plates and utensils after we are done with every meals.

On average, they served us 5 meals a day.

Breakfast, Morning snack, Lunch, tea break, and Dinner.

After breakfast, we get to rest until 3pm, followed by school tour, general orientation and opening program.

We have to wash our own clothes, and this was where we hung our clothes inside the dormitories.
Besides hanging clothes and towels inside our room, we dry our clothes on a twine line hanging outside the dormitory, and outside the comfort room. :)

Hopefully, I'll be able to collage the videos and upload it someday...
Not forgetting cheers, 'Sizzle' is my top favourite cheer.
It hyped up the atmosphere by a lot, and it's nice. :)

Day 2: Teaching session in Science and Math

The highlight of the day would be the teaching of Math and Science to different levels of students, which lasts the whole day.

A team of 4-5 of us is in-charge of either Math, Science, Culture Night, or Leadership Training.

Prior the trip, teams would have to prepare the materials needed to conduct the sessions.

Our group chosen Math.

While conducting our Math lesson with the level 1, we were not able to progress accordingly to what we have planned. Therefore, we practiced flexibility to adapt to the impromptu environment ^^

I'm thankful of the other facilitators in the class that helped us out.

I'm glad that most of the SYLers have enjoyed, learnt and understood the topic, Algebra, that we taught

After a day of teaching, we had a rest and relaxation time at the natural hot spring available nearby the school, awesome :)

Day 3: Interaction Program, Negros Oriental State University

We travelled to Guihulngan, a city in the Province of Negros Oriental.

Journey from SYL to Guihulngan took about 2 hours. :)

The interaction program were held in Negros Oriental State University.

It started off with a sharing session of how lecturers in Singapore teach the students using the 'Student Centered Learning', or 'Learners Centered Learning'.

But it's something related to those. I couldn't remember it clearly ):

Followed by interaction session with the students...

We were treated for a ride on a Pedicab, a cycle rickshaw, around the area nearby school. :)

There, we had a breathtaking sight, along the sea.

Back to school, we had closing ceremony, token of appreciation, and off we go.

It's the day when I learned the word Acethoryahey, and when Seahorse Club were formed :)

I had a lot of fun ad laughs together with the other Seahorses, at the back of the van. <3

Day 4 & 5 : Construction Work

There are 4 section of construction work; Painting, Cementing, Landscaping, and Roofing.

The First day, our team were doing Cementing.

Cementing is really fun!

I had a good time with them, mixing the cement and sand, bring the cement from one place to another, even out the pathway, and I accidentally broke one of which, similar to (look at picture below), but it's another that is thinner one :/ One of the side chipped off.

On the second day, we swapped with Felicia's group, and did landscaping.

Paved a 'car park lot' and short stretch of road outside the gate, using soil, and even out the pave with wood and a red pole which I suspected that it was originally used for volley court or badminton court. :)

The fun part is overcoming the fear, able to touch and catch earthworms with bare hands, in the soil :)

SYLers are humble and friendly people.

Despite the fact that some of them were experienced in construction work, they let us try and do it.

Even when we were unfamiliar, they guided us along patiently.

I deeply appreciate what they have done for us.

Most of the time, they placed our preferences above theirs.

They are selfless, sometimes, I wish that they could love themselves as much as they love others.

I want to be like them, be a more selfless individual, that brings everyone closer and together. :)

My first service learning trip at Cambodia, in Year 2008 was great.
I've observed, experienced, and learned values from it.
The only 'regret' I had was, I did not have a camera to capture the beautiful things which I would like to keep in a 'solid' form.

This Sunday, I'll be on the flight, yearning to the service learning trip at Philippines, together with school mates.

I anticipated that this coming trip would be awesome, ttm.
In a sense that, I'll get to see more... feel more... learn more ... and etc...
It's happening soon, I just can't wait for it.
:)

It's the end of August,
BAShine camp'11 just ended today. That's my first involvement in leadership skill in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I think...
Anyway, I'm glad that I joined, because I had my share of fun, and I've met awesome people.

Now, I'm looking forward to my eventful September and Bkk Trip in October with @pohyeepenelopez :)

Live in the Moment

Before today, I was living in the past, everyday.
Every other day, instead of living the moment, I reminisces.
"How sporty I were? How I used to love attending school? How much I miss my secondary school friends? How badly I want to travel back in time, whereby choices and decisions were made, so I could choose the path I want to walk, all over again. "

Other than reminisces, I would be planning ahead, thinking about future.
Way too much, further ahead, and deeper in thoughts.
Then, I tend to work more on my brain than to act on it.
After which, everything become empty.

I really don't want to wake up the next day, with regrets, not anymore.
I may be at loss now, but I'll find my way out soon.

1リットルの涙

One of my favourite time:
Be a couch potato while enjoying the accompany of the Dramas and Movies.

There are many nice plots which I've seen in different type of genres.
But I've to recommend 1リットルの涙, which is by far the most inspiring TV series I've watched.
(There is a movie version, but I personally preferred the TV series)

I won't blog about the plot as it's already available on the web.

1Litre of Tears, as true to the title, I teared a lot while watching the 11 episodes.
The best take away from this TV series- live life to the fullest.

原本以为作答了第一张考卷后，心情会好一点。
事实并非如此。
相反的，我的心晴和脚步，一样沉重。

因为，最有把握的那一科，好像被我搞砸了。
果然是，‘期望越高，失落越大’

接下来，得面对的那两棵科目，完全没信心。
渐渐的，想要放弃的念头，出现了。
感觉上，现在所做的一切，都毫无意义似的。
也许，是我累了吧？
